My Trip to Bali

Keling-King Beach

Keling-King was by far the coolest beach and hike I’ve ever experienced. Actually getting down to the beach was the hardest part, but taking our three-dollar-a-day rental scooters to the site was a piece of cake. The descent down to the beach was pretty difficult as the only railings dividing you and a one hundred-foot drop were old wooden branches and the occasional rock. It definitely gave us a huge adrenaline rush.

Finally getting down the beach after about an hour and a half of straight down rock climbing, you arrive at perhaps the most beautiful beach one will ever see. From the top of Keling-King, you can see the giant Manta Rays swimming about in the ocean. Once you arrive at the bottom, they do not get any smaller. After finally navigating the last portion of the climb, we were greeted by monkeys and a gorgeous sunset. It was definitely something I will never forget.

Here you can see my brother holding on to the side of a cliff for dear life. This picture just doesn’t give this hike justice because if you didn’t hold onto the side, you were a goner. A little advice for anyone wanting to make the trip down to Keling-king: I would suggest packing light and definitely mentally prepare to descend straight down a cliff.
